Pre-workout is a supplement used "pre" (before) your workout, to give you a boost of energy and focus. However, most research on pre-workouts isn't full proof. Studies show that pre-workouts are not standardized. What is in one pre-workout, may not be in others.
While some ingredients aren't BAD for you, some certainly aren't good for you either. Some of the ingredients include artificial sweeteners, dyes, sugar alcohols, emulsifiers (which help ingredients dissolve and mix together) and more.
I know I wrote in another blog, that I want my body to be more "clean". (Not in terms of EVERYTHING, of course). But I also will make necessary adjustments, where I see fit. I don't want to put anything in my body that it doesn't NEED. Especially when I am trying to help it do something beneficial.
So what is beneficial about coffee?
Well coffee offers caffeine which has several benefits as well. Caffeine can improve your mood, focus, performance, increase in brain function, and even can reduce sore muscles. Also coffee is less expensive than most pre-workouts.
So out of that information alone, I rather have coffee in my system as opposed to something that isn't AS thoroughly studied or regulated. Besides, who doesn't love some coffee???
Do your research. Make up your own mind on both products. You do you! Stay strong. Be safe!
